Askov Rutabaga Earrings
The small Danish town of Askov is located in Central Minnesota. This is the very town where I grew up and learned my Scandinavian traditions. Askov’s claim to fame was that it was the Rutabaga Capitol of the World…until that horrible night when the waxer got too hot and burned down the warehouse. While Askov is technically the Ex-Capitol, they continue to celebrate their notable vegetable with an annual celebration and other unique nods to this turnip-looking vegetable. I guarantee you won’t run into anyone else wearing brass rutabaga earrings.
